Molveno- Lago di Tovel - San Romedio - Castel Thun This itinerary is one of the classics which is also recommended by the local travel agencies. Take road no. 421 towards Andalo, Cavedago and Spormaggiore as far as the first turn-off at Rocchetta (19 km). Turn left here for Denno and Tuenno (39 km). At Tuenno turn left for Lake Tóvel (1,178 m., 51 km). A walk around the lake is highly recommended. Back in Tuenno, head for Cles (44 km from Molveno), the main town in the Non Valley. Worth seeing are: the Palazzo Assessorile manor house, the parish church of the Assunta, the church of San Vigilio and Cles Castle where Bernardo Clesio was born (the castle is not open to the public).
In the main square in Cles turn right onto main road no. 43 and cross the bridge over the Santa Giustina reservoir dam. In Dermulo turn left towards Sanzeno, Cavareno and Passo Mendola. Carry on as far as Sanzeno (54 km, not including the detour to Lake Tóvel). Here you can visit the church of the Non Valley martyrs Sisinnius, Alexander and Martyrius, built in the Gothic-Renaissance style. In Sanzeno turn right and after 3 km you come to San Romedio along a rather winding road. The hermitage stands on a rock where over time a total of six chapels and a hospice have been built on top on one another. Back in Dermulo turn left onto main road no. 43 as far as the turn-off for Mollaro and Vigo di Ton which is dominated by Thun Castle; this is one of the loveliest and best preserved castles in Trentino. Today it is the property of the Autonomous Province of Trento and is open to visitors when this does not interfere with the restoration work (consult the APT del Trentino Tourist Office for information). Carry on along road no. 124 as far as Masi di Vigo and you come back onto main road no. 43. Continue as far as Rocchetta where you turn right onto main road no. 421. Molveno is 20 km away. Overall about 120 km.
