The valley runs from north to south:
around it rise the most famous peaks of the Brenta Group. To the south-west are
the Crozzon di Val d’Agola, Crozzon di Brenta, Cima Tosa and Cima Margherita,
while to the east are the Brenta Alta and the Sfulmini chain and to the north
are the Cima Mandron and the Punte di Campiglio. From Sant’Antonio di
Mavignola follow the road for the Brenta Valley as far as the Vivaio Forestale
nursery at 1,172 metres. After Piazza delle Bore and following the Sarca di
Brenta river, the path (and the forestry road) goes past the Malga di Brenta
Bassa (now in disuse) at 1,259 metres and climbs up towards the Orso Pass.
Turning south it then climbs the Scala di Brenta, winding its way along a rocky
stretch before coming to the upper level of the valley near the former Malga
Brenta Alta at 1,687 metres. Here it continues to meander among rocks and
mountain pines up to the last terrace where, by the enormous rock face of the
Crozzon peak, the Brentei Refuge stands.
