This has to be carried out in accordance with the rules and regulations protecting the mountain environment. Following are some recommendations for those who make this experience for the first time:

·         Refer to maps and specialised literature describing the length and difficulty of the paths

·       Make sure that paths are open and accessible

·       Make sure your equipment and garments are adequate and appropriate to the path chosen

·       Ask experts or residents for information on the weather (the weather changes rapidly in the mountains)

·       Make provision for unexpected events, carry with you extra equipment and be ready for possible alternative trails i

·       Inquire in advance whether huts and bivouacs are open

·       Inquire about the timetables of  lifts

·       Tell your hotel-keeper about the path you will follow

·       In the case of difficult paths ask for the assistance of alpine guides

·       Ask the local tourist office for illustrated publications describing the features in terms of flora and fauna of the mountain territory you will visit
